Day 3 | Chandraghanta & Bagalamukhi: Courage Also Knows When to Pause
Courage and Restraint

Chandraghanta, the third Navadurga, is remembered for her protective warrior presence. Her bell-shaped crescent and martial iconography communicate readiness to confront danger.
For a thematic comparison, consider Bagalamukhi, the Mahavidya associated in Tantric traditions with stambhana, or arresting and immobilizing forces. Her imagery is often shown as halting an adversary's speech or action.
The connection is not that these two goddesses are identical. Rather, they allow us to contemplate two dimensions of strength: decisive action and deliberate restraint.
In daily life, courage is sometimes speaking clearly when silence would be easier. At other times, it is refusing to escalate a conflict, interrupting harmful impulses or choosing careful words over reactive ones.
This is not an invitation to suppress disagreement. It is an invitation to ask whether our actions are guided by purpose or by immediate emotion.
